Comedian Joe Pasquale has continued to delight audiences with his live stand-up tours for almost 20 years; along the way he’s voiced characters for Hollywood movies Garfield:  A Tale of Two Kitties and Horton Hears A Who! and children’s television – Frankenstein’s Cat; starred in The Muppets’ 25th Anniversary show, alongside the legendary Jon Voight, toured in several theatrical productions including Mel Brooks’ The Producers and Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern  Are Dead;   been crowned King of the Jungle in ITV’s I’m A  Celebrity… Get Me out Of Here; appeared on 5 Royal Variety Performances and become a mainstay of the British Pantomime season with sold-out performances each and every Christmas.

 

And if all this is not enough, the man recently described by comedian Jason Manford, as a “national treasure”, has qualified as a pilot,  taken up boxing,  joined up to the Open University to study for a Degree in Geoscience and completed the Virgin London Marathon raising funds for Diabetes UK. 

 

Since winning I’m A Celebrity ….  in December 2004, time has not stood still for Joe Pasquale, one of the hardest working and top selling live comedians in British comedy today.   Joe followed his I’m A Celebrity win by hosting his own ITV special An Audience with Joe Pasquale, which enjoyed ratings in excess of 9 million viewers!  Joe also went on to host the long-running television series The Price Is Right for ITV and at various times guest hosted the Paul O’Grady Show for Channel 4. 

 

Over the years Joe has released several videos and DVDs from his live tours including the 1996 £1,000,000 seller ‘Live and Squeaky’ which earned him a Platinum Retail Performance award from The British Video Association - a feat which was repeated in 2005 with ‘Does He Really Talk Like That?  The Live Show’

 

Joe also co-wrote 'The Big Thick Joe Pasquale Book' and is slowly writing his autobiography which of course constantly needs amending with each new adventure.

 

Having qualified as a pilot and taken up boxing and running, Joe has continued to enhance his ‘action man’ credentials by competing in a celebrity edition of Total Wipeout against the likes of Fatima Whitbread and Sally Gunnell; attempted to smash the ‘most amount of martial arts throws in a minute on Guinness World Records Smashed and spent time in a Costa Rican prison for Virgin One’s ‘The Prisoner X’ documentary season.

 

 

 

Born in Grays in Essex, Joe Pasquale had a string of jobs before embarking on his career in show business.  Initially he was a clerical assistant for the Department of Transport and Environment Dangerous Goods branch (yes, really!).   He then moved to a margarine factory, followed by a stint at Fords at Dagenham, before switching jobs again to become a garage forecourt assistant, and then a plasterer – a bad one!   The bright lights eventually beckoned and Joe became a Green Coat for Warners Holidays, doing everything from organising the Whist Drive, to refereeing the wrestling, then finally in 1987 he made his TV debut on the series New Faces, winning his heat and then coming second in the grand final.

 

From this point onwards Joe Pasquale honed his craft, working solidly up and down the country in theatre, cabaret and revue shows.   In 1993 Joe embarked on his first solo stand-up tour and later that year made his debut on the Royal Variety Performance. He also did his own shows for LWT and guested on every light entertainment and chat show going from Des O Connor Tonight to the Parkinson show.  Joe also was a regular entertainer for British troops on over 40 excursions to such far flung destinations as the Falkland Islands, Belize, Cyprus, and the Ascension Islands and closer to home to Northern Ireland.  Joe continued to develop his tours and made further guest appearances on the Royal Variety Performance in 1995, 1997 and 1999.                                              

 

In 1996 Joe embarked on his Live and Squeky tour which was filmed for DVD release and achieved massive sales and further established his popularity.  In 1999 Joe also turned his hand to acting for the first time and toured for 12 weeks in the lead role of the critically acclaimed play 'The Nerd'.  Time Out called his performance "rib shatteringly funny".

 

In December 2001 Joe  went to  Los Angeles where he was the only British performer to be invited to appear in a show celebrating the 25th anniversary of 'The Muppet Show', (alongside his hero Jon Voight, who has become one of Joe’s biggest fans).  

 

Joe celebrated the beginning of 2003 with his sell-out 10th Anniversary stand-up tour.  He then changed course later that year and starred in Ray Cooney’s Farce ‘Tom Dick & Harry’ at the Theatre Royal, Windsor .  This was followed that Christmas with Joe starring in ‘Jack & The Beanstalk’ at The Derngate Theatre, Northampton.

 

After the success of ‘Tom, Dick & Harry’, Joe’s appetite for straight theatre took him off to Jersey to play the philosophical role of Guildenstern in Tom Stoppard’s play ‘Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead’ in the Spring of 2004.

 

This was followed by yet another sell-out tour - ‘The Everything I Have Ever Done & The First Of Many Goodbye Tours’, from which a DVD was filmed and released in November 2004.  

 

Joe then went on to be crowned King Of The Jungle in ITV’s ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’ in Dec 2004, before returning to the UK and to Birmingham, where he played ‘Jack’ in the Qdos production of ‘Jack & The Beanstalk’ at the Birmingham Hippodrome.

 

In 2005 Joe hosted his own show on ITV1 ‘An Audience With Joe Pasquale’, which was also released on DVD.   Joe went back on the road with his stand-up show ‘Joe Pasquale - Does He Really Talk Like That?’ and made his fifth appearance on the Royal Variety Performance. 

 

Joe changed tack once again to acting and starred in a film playing the part of ‘The Pink Lieutenant’ in ‘Dead Long Enough’, as well as recording three shows for ITV1 and then finishing off the year by returning for the second year running to The Birmingham Hippodrome in the  Qdos production of ‘Peter Pan’.

 

In 2006, Joe could be seen hosting ‘The Price Is Right’ on ITV1; that same year Joe produced and directed the production of Rentaghost which was his take on the classic TV series and which toured during the Spring.    He also toured with his stand-up show ‘Joe Pasquale – The Return Of The Love Monkey’, which was broadcast on television over Christmas in 2007 and was released on DVD.    That Christmas Joe starred in ‘Peter Pan’ at Bristol’s Hippodrome Theatre, which proved to be another record-breaking season. 

 

Joe also did two cartoon voiceovers - in 2006 for 20th Century Fox as the voice  of Claudius the mouse in ‘Garfield:  A Tale of Two Kitties’, and then in 2007 he voiced the part of the Dentist of Whoville in the cartoon starring       Jim Carrey and Steve Carrell called ‘Horton Hears a Who!’ - the follow up to How the Grinch Stole Christmas  .

 

In 2007 Joe starred in the touring version of ‘The Producers’ with great success and voiced the character of the cat in the cartoon ‘Frankenstein’s Cat’,  before breaking box office attendance records that Christmas at the                 Cliffs Pavilion, Southend in the smash hit ‘Cinderella’. 

 

In 2008, ‘Frankenstein’s Cat’ enjoyed huge success on the BBC and Joe also hosted ‘Bingo Lotto’ for  Virgin One,  presented a documentary as part of  Virgin One’s ‘The Prisoner X’ documentary season from a prison in Costa Rica and guest hosted a ‘Paul O’Grady’ show.  Joe then embarked on his Back on the Road Tour before making his directorial debut in Peter Pan at Dartford’s Orchard Theatre in which he also starred as Smee. 

 

In 2009 Joe embarked on a 60 date UK tour before returning to the Birmingham Hippodrome for the third time in 6 years to star as Muddles in The Sleeping Beauty.

 

In 2010 Joe started off the year appearing in  a touring version of The Wizard of Oz before embarking on his  summer Just Joe and autumn ESP tours and then headed for the Theatre Royal Plymouth to star in  The Sleeping Beauty once again.

 

In 2011 Joe started out the year with his first marathon by taking part in the Virgin London Marathon raising money for Diabetes UK and this summer he will embark on his second marathon  with a series of summer dates followed by Autumn shows with his Pull My Finger tour and then it’s off to the Theatre Royal in Nottingham when Joe will reprise his role in Sleeping Beauty.
